William Love Captures the 120th Southern Amateur Title in Dominant Fashion

JOHNS CREEK, GA (July 18, 2026) – Final round results of the 120th Southern Amateur Championship of the Southern Golf Association hosted by the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, GA on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

William Love of Atlanta, Georgia secured the 120th Southern Amateur title to etch his name on the George W. Adair Trophy, and into history.

Love posted a final round score of two-under par 68, finishing with a 54-hole score of twelve-under par 168.

When asked about the final round, Love expressed that “this week was a great test for my patience on the course…. It felt like a long time coming, so it was great to finally get it done and come through with a win!”

Zachary Swanwick of New Zealand claimed second after an impressive three rounds, carding a 54-hole score of 201 (66,68,67). 

At the conclusion of the round, Carlos Astiazaran of Mexico (66,68,69) and Carson Bertagnole of Pinehurst, N.C. (61, 72,70) were tied for third with overall scores of seven-under par 203. After a scorecard playoff, Bertagnole was awarded the third place medal.

The winner of the Southern Amateur Championship will have his name engraved on the George W. Adair Trophy, a silver medal, the Calamity Jane Putter, a five-year exemption into the Southern Amateur Championship (2027-2031), and an exemption into the 126th U.S. Amateur Championship at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, PA from August 10-16, 2026.

The 121st Southern Amateur Championship will be held at the Country Club of North Carolina (Dogwood), in Pinehurst, NC from July 7-10, 2027.
