Jack Roberts Leads Round One of the 49th Southern Junior Championship

EATONTON, GA (June 16, 2021) - First Round results of the 49th Southern Junior Championship of the Southern Golf Association hosted by Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee, in Eatonton, GA, on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 (7128 yards, par 36–36–72, 74.6/141).
 
Championship Links
Jack Roberts of Saint Marys, GA fired a six-under-par 66 to lead Round One of the 49th Southern Junior Championship. With five birdies on the front nine, and two birdies on the back nine, Roberts went low to lead by two strokes and stand atop the leaderboard.
 
Reed Lotter of Savannah, GA and Nolan Haynes of Barberton, OH posted four-under-par 68 to stand second.
 
Tomek Pickrell of Cypress, TX carded three-under-par 69 to finish fourth.

Round Two begins on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 8:00 a.m. off #1 and #10 tees at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
 
Format:
The field of 156 players will play 54 holes of individual stroke play. The field will be cut to the low 66 players and ties after 36 holes. The lowest score for 54 holes will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for the overall Championship only, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play. The playoff holes and their order of play will be determined by the Rules Committee. Initial groupings will be for two days; the field will be cut and regrouped by score for the third round based on second round results.
 
Eligibility: Entries are open to any male amateur golfer who has a current Handicap Index® not exceeding 5.4 under the World Handicap System as of the close of entries and has reached his 14th birthday by June 16, 2021, but not his 19th birthday by June 18, 2021.
