John Daly II Captures the 119th Southern Amateur Title in Dominant Fashion

JOHNSON, AR (July 19, 2025) – Final round results of the 119th Southern Amateur Championship of the Southern Golf Association hosted by Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, Arkansas on Saturday, July 19, 2025 ( 7586 yards, par 36-36–72, 78.8/155).

John Daly II of Dardanell, Arkansas cliched the 119th Southern Amateur title to etch his name on the George W. Adair Trophy. 

Daly posted a final round score of four-under par 68, finishing with a 72-hole score of ten-under par 278. Notably, Daly was the only player in the field to record scores under par in each of the four rounds, demonstrating an impressive performance and understanding of the game. 

Daly is a rising senior at The University of Arkansas where he is a part of the Men’s golf team. Blessings Golf Club is the home course of the Razorbacks and when asked about earning the title at his home course, Daly responded with a bright smile and stated, “it is awesome to win at home in front of my friends, teammates, and family-friends.” He also mentioned that he knew he could use his knowledge of the course to climb to the top of the leaderboard especially because of how much earning a title like this would mean to him.  

When asked about the final round, Daly expressed that he “got off to a solid start and stuck to his game to produce a solid round.” 

Daly is the son of PGA Champion and former Arkansas Razorback, John Daly, and he voiced how excited he was to talk through his achievement with his father. 

After leading rounds two and three, Garrett Endicott of San Antonio, Texas delivered a strong performance with round scores of 68, 67, 73, and 75, finishing at five-under par 283 overall to secure a noteworthy second place finish. 

At the conclusion of the round, four golfers, Camden Smith of Sandy Springs, Georgia (72, 73, 72, 68), Taishi Moto of Japan (70, 70, 73, 72), Thomas Curry of Texarkana, Arkansas (71, 72, 70, 72), and Jase Summy of Keller, Texas (72, 70, 70, 73) were tied for third with overall scores of three-under par 285. After a scorecard playoff, Smith was awarded the third place medal.

The winner of the Southern Amateur Championship receives his name enraged on the George W. Adair Trophy, a silver medal, the Calamity Jane Putter, a five-year exemption into the Southern Amateur Championship (2026-2029), and an exemption into the 2025 U.S. Amateur Championship at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, California, August 11-17, 2025.  

The 120th Southern Amateur Championship will be held at the Atlanta Athletic Club (Highlands), Johns Creek, Georgia from July 15-18, 2026.
