CARROLLTON, TX (July 15, 2020) - First round results of the 114th Southern Amateur Championship of the Southern Golf Association hosted by Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, TX on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 (7445 yards, par-72, 77.4/152).
Aman Gupta of Concord, North Carolina and William Mouw of Chino, California beat the Texas heat by firing an impressive three-under 69 to co-lead round one. Oklahoma State’s Gupta and Pepperdine’s Mouw share the lead, each carding five birdies, 11 pars and two bogeys to open the Championship.
“I started off kind of shaky, not hitting it that great,” Gupta said. “My momentum changed on 10 by hitting at the flag, making a 15-foot putt. Overall it was a great day.”
Mouw’s early birdies on the front nine, holes No. 2, 3 and 7, paved a consistent day of play that carried him to a successful finish.

Round two begins on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. off #1 and #10 tees at Maridoe Golf Club.
Eligibility: Entries are open to any male amateur golfer who has a current USGA Handicap Index® not exceeding 3.4 under the World Handicap System as of the close of entries.
