Chun An Yu - January 2019 SGA Amateur of the Month
BIRMINGHAM, AL (February 25, 2019) – Chun An Yu, a junior at Arizona State University, has been named SGA Amateur of the Month Presented by Global Golf Post for January 2019 by the Southern Golf Association (SGA).
The Taoyuan, Taiwan native won the Australian Master of the Amateurs title in a three-hole playoff over Keita Nakajima of Japan after overcoming a five shot deficit in the final round.
Yu also finished T5 individually at the Arizona Intercollegiate leading his Sun Devil team to a second place finish three strokes behind host Arizona.
Yu is currently the 13th ranked Amateur in the World according to the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings (SPWAR) and 17th in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Winners of the SGA’s monthly award are determined by an international panel of golf officials, coaches and journalists. Now in its 14th season, notable recipients have been Bill Haas, Michelle Wie, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, J. B. Holmes, Webb Simpson, Rhys Davies, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Fortin-Simard, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Alice Hewson, and more recently Cole Hammer and Jovan Rebula.
The SGA supports amateur golf at the highest level, including staging of the storied Southern Amateur, as well as the Southern Junior Championship.
