Oklahoma State's Matthew Wolff
BIRMINGHAM, AL (October 24, 2018) – Matthew Wolff, a sophomore at Oklahoma State University, has been named SGA Amateur of the Month Presented by Global Golf Post for September 2018 by the Southern Golf Association (SGA).
Wolff, a native of Agoura Hills, Calif., posted two individual victories at historic venues to begin his second campaign at Oklahoma State. He opened the season with his first individual collegiate title at The Carmel Cup played at Pebble Beach Golf Links with a 17-under total of 199 for a one shot victory.
Two weeks later at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational, he carded a 6-under 204 total to win the individual title by one stroke and lead the Cowboys to an 18-shot victory.
Wolff was also named the Big 12 Golfer of the Month for September.
He is currently the No. 1 ranked collegiate golfer by Golfweek/Sagarin Ranking and No. 14 ranked Amateur in the World by Scratch Players.
Winners of the SGA’s monthly award are determined by an international panel of golf officials, coaches and journalists. Now in its 14th season, notable recipients have been Bill Haas, Michelle Wie, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, J. B. Holmes, Webb Simpson, Rhys Davies, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Fortin-Simard, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Alice Hewson, and more recently Cole Hammer and Jovan Rebula.
The SGA supports amateur golf at the highest level, including staging of the storied Southern Amateur, as well as the Southern Junior Championship.
