Australia’s Curtis Luck captures August’s “Amateur of the Month”
Curtis Luck, the 20-year old golfer from Australia, has been named Amateur of the Month for August by the Southern Golf Association.
Luck earned the title after his win on the South Course at Oakland Hills last month during the US Amateur Championship, becoming the third Aussie to capture the Havermeyer Trophy and securing his spot as the 7th ranked Amateur in the world.
Winners of the SGA’s March-through-October award are determined by a blue-ribbon national panel of golf officials, coaches and journalists. Now in its 14th season, notable recipients have been Bill Haas, Michelle Wie, Hunter Mahan, Ryan Moore, J. B. Holmes, Webb Simpson, Rhys Davies, Kyle Stanley, Kevin Fortin-Simard, Rickie Fowler, Danny Lee, Matthew Fitzpatrick, Alice Hewson, and more recently Lee McCoy & Aaron Wise.
The SGA supports amateur golf at the highest level, including staging of the storied Southern Amateur, as well as the Southern Junior Championship.
