Southern Amateur Championship Entry Form
ELIGIBILITY
Entries are open to male, amateur golfers who have a current USGA Handicap Index of 3.4 or less.
Entries are subject to rejection, or withdrawal, at any time (including during the Championship) by the SGA. The reason for rejection, or withdrawal, may include unbecoming conduct during the competition.
FORMAT
The Championship will be conducted at stroke play for 72 holes, 18 holes daily on July 19-22, 2017.
There will be 168 players at the championship site to begin play, some of which will be exempt and some that have had to qualify at a regional qualifying site. After 36 holes the field will be reduced to the low 66 scorers and ties for the final 36 holes of play. The SGA reserves the right to change the number of entries to be accepted.
Exempt: A portion of the championship field will be comprised of exempt players as described under the section "EXEMPTIONS".
Note: If you believe you are an exempt player, you need to send your resume' to Buford McCarty, buford@bamagolf.com.
Qualifying: Qualifying will be 18 holes of stroke play on dates and at sites indicated under the section QUALIFYING SITES. The number of available places will be determined after entries close and the exempt field has been established.
Ties: At the qualifying sites, ties for qualifying places will be determined by sudden death playoff immediately following the conclusion of play and beginning on Hole #1 as shown on the official scorecard. Alternates that haven't been decided at the conclusion of the qualifier or a playoff will be decided by matching scorecards in accordance with the USGA recommendation as outlined in The Rules of Golf, Appendix I, page 161(c), except that if a tie still exists following this procedure then the procedure is repeated for the first nine holes, and if still tied, cards will be matched beginning with Hole #1 until the tie is broken. No refund of entry fee will be made to those who fail to qualify.
At the championship site, a "Sudden Death" playoff to determine the Champion will be held immediately upon conclusion of the tournament. Such playoff will start on a hole to be determined by the Committee and as published on the local rules sheet. After the Champion has been determined, all other ties not yet settled, including those involving individuals participating in the playoff for the Championship, will be resolved by matching scorecards of the final round in accordance with the USGA recommendation as outlined in The Rules of Golf, Appendix I, page 161(c), except that if a tie still exists following this procedure then the procedure is repeated for the first nine holes, and if still tied, cards will be matched beginning with Hole #1 until the tie is broken.
